Musicians of the King’s Road a cappella
Marnix De Cat, (Capilla Flamenca) – conductor

All Saints’ Day

Guillaume de Machaut’s Messe de Nostre Dame is a medieval masterpiece more than 650 years old – a monument of 14th‑century music. It is one of the earliest complete Mass settings to have survived to the present day. It is as far removed from Bach as Bach is from us.

In this concert, Musicians of the King’s Road performs under the direction of the Belgian conductor Marnix De Cat. He was one of the four singers of the legendary Flemish ensemble Capilla Flamenca and is especially renowned as a refined interpreter of Renaissance polyphony.

In the performance of Machaut’s Mass, Musicians of the King’s Road uses a Renaissance music stand.
