Ilpo Laspas, organ
The day before Epiphany
Gregorio Allegri’s Miserere mei, Deus is one of the great wonders of Western music – a work filled with radiance and devotion, rising to an almost supernatural beauty. It is perhaps the most iconic of all early music compositions.
This concert will feature the original so-called Sistine Chapel version and the later, more widely known high-C version.
The concert is conducted by Erik Van Nevel, founder and artistic director of the Belgian ensemble Currende. The organ is played by Ilpo Laspas.
